What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.
-Glenn Close
Since I was a child, I have always turned to art when my brain got too overwhelmed- I watched movies, tv, and studied films or I painted.
After many years of therapy in my teens, I got a clear diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and depression.
I knew from the start that I was passionate about mental health because myself and my family saw first hand how scary it can be. I wanted nobody to ever have to feel like I felt, so I started to learn about mental health and what it is.
During my four years at Towson University in Maryland I dedicated a large portion of my time to teaching about and advocating for mental health within my campus community and beyond. I led a group of ‘Peer Educators’ as we spent hours upon hours creating presentations, lessons, and activities, to take onto campus to spread awareness and start a conversation.
…and I just got lucky that the mental health awareness color is green:)
When creating this site I knew I wanted to use it as a platform to educate and provide resources for those curious or in need of mental health help.
Below I have provided a few of my favorite organizations that are actively taking donations, if interested.
